In Death, Comes Art
Becca has been working hard on making each memorial for each animal unique. Becca works on different techniques, to expand to her audience. Each set of bones are unlike any other- from different antler types, to teeth, to the art style itself. Each frame or backdrop is also unique, coming from second-hand stores or sourced from around her community.
Each skull has a story- where it came from, how it came to be, and where it was donated from.
Different types of art include painting, crystalizing, lights, dried flowers, clay, hydro-dipped, and so much more. You can follow all the journeys through the gallery.
All bones are ethically sourced. Deceased along the road, Becca puts her own Fur-Bearer’s hunting tag on each one. Treated with dignity and respect, their body’s finial resting spot will grow with flowers in the next season. With each pick up, there are seeds planed in memory.
Some deer are hunted and donated- Becca and her family are avid hunters, conservationists, and respectful to nature. Only taking what we can use. Each deer was harvested, but none has gone to waste.
The circle of life is remembered in all aspects of Becca’s art. From mushrooms to bugs, to harvesting the skull itself. Nothing is taken for granted.
Along with the skull and bone art, Becca also sources her frames and backdrops from second-hand stores. Flowers are dried from her back yard, and preserved.
